Hessian Session

by lgallagher on Aug.29, 2008, under Uncategorized

Nick Dirks and Jarad Hadi rolled into town with a couple of their homies. They’ve been on the road for a while now and looked the part. Smelled it too. They brought barley pops, we skated, caught up, Nick pushed Jarad off the deck of the mini, he bled some, then poured some beer on Nick’s blunt. It was just some good dirty fun for a Thursday. It’s tradeshow season. Premieres are on the horizon, the dirts are starting to swarm down here in So Cal and there’s bound to be a lot more where this came from. Look out.

Nick may or may not be wanted by the cops in Northern California right now.

Jarad Hadi skates in any and all types of footwear. 5-0 in his boat shoes.

The road’s been hard on Jarad.

Bloody blunt.

Jarad pouring some out for his homey.

Eventually it digressed to a barefoot game of skate.

Nick won.

A Minute with Austin Smith

by lgallagher on Aug.25, 2008, under Uncategorized

Me:Where the hell are you right now?
Austin: Queenstown, NZ, airport, its raining and hopefully my flight doesn’t get cancelled.

What’d you do in NZ?
Epic trip: full of helicopters, paintball, powder, indian food and Travis Rice

Damn sounds spicy, any highlights? Did you see That’s it That’s all? What?d ya think?
Paintball might have been the highlight. We played for 4 hours and spent like 1500 bucks on paint. Hah. I did see That’s it That’s all, and it was pretty insane, helicopters everywhere and some serious tricks that have never been done.

1500 bucks on paintballs, who picked up that receipt?

Hah, Craighill was there to pick that one up along with the hefty heli bill. Thanks Quik.

Uncle McKnight comes through again. Where are you headed now?
To Argentina for a Nike trip, it should be deluxe.
Go get gangster for a few days with Ejack, Louie and Benne

You been riding those Nike boots down under?
I have. You can jump higher, run faster and you don’t even have to take them off when you go skate. They are just some extra high tops.

Do they dry themselves like Michael J Fox’s boots in Back To The Future?
They have that on the basic model, wait until you see the high end shit!
I gotta role, I?m pretty late, I have to get on my flight, later.

A Minute with Justin Meyer

by lgallagher on Aug.21, 2008, under Uncategorized

Justin Meyer is the man behind the camera that’s documented such TWSNOW.COM classics as Sunday in the Park and the HCSC session videos. He’s also a hired gun for the Think Thank crew and last year he filmed and edited 20 Tricks Volume II. Justin was raised on the mean streets of Las Vegas and now splits his time between Big Bear and Government Camp.

Here’s a quick Q&A with Mr. Meyer.

Me: Okay, favorite rider or riders to shoot with at Bear?
Justin: At Bear, hmmm, johnny miller, chris bradshaw, nima jalali, joe sexton, joe mertes, kirk kaufmann.

Favorite single shot you got last winter?
Oh man, let me think about that one… I usually don’t like any of ‘em. No, swith 270 by johnny. Wasn’t the best shot, but we had talked about that trick going down on that rail for 4 years.

That arrowhead rail?
Yea, or his bs9 in AK. Yeah, that’s a banger,

Those shots are in Stack Footy right?
Yep, just because it was johnny in AK, (laughs) and it was a bs 9, so yeah, both of em.

Cool, so how’d you get your start?
I haven’t started yet i dont think, do web videos count? (Laughs) I donno. I guess I get paid so that counts as being started for that answer i would have to go with….filming my homies, skating in vegas and watchin’ skate videos, that always made me psyched on filming.

When did you move out to Bear?
Uh, 6 winters ago. Only winters though, that place is boring as hell in the summer
so technically I’ ve lived there for 3 years (laughs).

Which filmers do you admire most?
The ones that keep it ghetto, fuck i donno, the ones that actually snowboard.

Like who?
Jesse Burtner is one, but he isn’t really a filmer.

Anyone else?
Of course Carlino, just because i love that guy. And Dan O’sullivan, a homey from vegas, shoots skateboarding.

Which movies are you most excited to see this season?
Had I not seen some already I would say, Stack Footy, Double Decade, These Days, and Team Thunder’s flick
and Down with People of course.

One word on each…..

Double Decade
Historic

Stack Footy
Wow

These Days
Carlino

Team Thunder
Boardo

Down With People

Grenade x High Cascade Glove

by lgallagher on Aug.19, 2008, under Uncategorized

Grenade and High Cascade are collaborating on a new glove.

It’s called The Wipe Out. Get it?

Still struggling to wrap your brain around that. Here’s a clue. It’s eco-friendly too. ‘Cuz you don’t have to needlessly waste toilet paper anymore. Real hippies use their hand. Or, now the High Cascade x Grenade glove.

And while we’re at it, here’s another photo of bodily fluids to ruin your day. Sorry.

Crawfest 2008

by lgallagher on Aug.04, 2008, under Uncategorized

Got an email from Andrew Crawford the other day…

Hey Liam,
hope your summer is going rad man. I had a quick question for ya.
Austin Smith and Jake and Macy price all came up to montana on the 4th
of july for my 30th bday heavy metal house bash, and i thought it
would be pretty rad to write a short story for you guys on what austin
did in the summer, or how even off the snow, shreddin forms life long
friendships that carry on. The band are these dudes called Sephirot,
that sound like iron maiden and manowar, and are so good, hopefully
trying to get signed by volcom’s recording label. Anyway, the photos
are so rad of everybody doing summer time stuff, rockin, swimmin,
austin riding a bike in a wheat field to stay in shape, cruzin on this
fan boat i built, and if you think it sounds cool i would
love to write a quick story or paragraphs about summer, or bro’s or
whatever might be a cool angle. let me now what you think.

thanks,

craw

Who wouldn’t want to read a first hand account from a true badass like Crawford. Stay tuned, should have Andrew’s word and some photos it in the next couple days. Until then click here to see photos of Crawford or here to see a little how-to vid.
