Holgapraphy
by lgallagher on Sep.30, 2008, under Uncategorized
Just some photos from the mountains shot with my Holga. I bought the damn thing five years ago for like 18 bucks and over the years it’s produced some of my favorite images.
Boards. Great Divide, Montana.
Phi Weiss. Frontside 180 on a gray day at Big Sky, Montana.
Fresh rake. Big Sky, Montana.
Stickers.
Big Air jump. Great Divide, Montana.
Tyrel Thornton. Back D at Big Sky, Montanistan.
Drop In. Brighton, Utah.
Moral of the Holga story: It’s not the camera. Cool images can be made on even the cheapest cameras.
If you like the look of these photos heres a few sites to check.

Some dudes
by lgallagher on Sep.26, 2008, under Uncategorized
This is Lance and Mike Hakker, they started Ashbury along with Nima Jalali. They’re twins and brilliant, if unassuming business men. Their blog is one of my favorites. Trip out here.
This is John Antoski. He’s our Associate Art Director. He recently bought this little spotting scope. It has 8x zoom, which he’s pretty proud of. Only spent two buck on this little eye piece. Coolest thing is he can put it in front of the lense on his iPhone and get all kind of HOlga-looking photos. He’s oozes art. Proof is here.
This is Nick Dirks. He has a pony-tail now. Farmed hair all winter to have one. Now he kinda looks like an albino Columbian drug lord. He’s got a bruised heel, so he didn’t drop-in at Hot Dawgs. Instead he loitered, drinking Budweiser and eating Haribo gummy bears. He’s a man of exceptional taste. Further proof is in his Polaroids, here. Search nickdirks under Polaroid People.
Mandatory Viewing:ir77
by lgallagher on Sep.19, 2008, under Uncategorized
I’m remembering how to settle into the earlier night. But, it’s not easy. The waves are jacked and the afterwork window is closing. My miniramps gone. I’ve got all this extra energy. I think I might have restless leg syndrome. Maybe I should medicate.
One thing that helps is this movie and book called ir77. The movie part is always on heavy rotation this time of the year. Haven’t figured out why or how it works, but it does. Helps winter not seem so far off.
Find it. Buy it. And see for yourself.
Office Chair Shredder

Found this video on the Vice Magazine web site this morning. Vice is a pretty rad rag. Worth a look. VBS.TV is too. Could kill hours there.
This vid is about as close to the real thing as I can get while tethered to this desk. Did it for me. Maybe it’ll get you going too. Says it’s a film by Ari Macropolous. For those that don’t know, dude used to shoot a lot of snowboarding, among other things..here’s a link.… and another one... Drop in.
Holden Out
by lgallagher on Sep.11, 2008, under Uncategorized
Holden’s got a new web site up. And it’s a trip. It’s simultaneously old and new looking. There’s some kinda creepy electronic noise pulsing out of it. There’s all these little videos that look like they were pulled out of your grandparents attic. Your cursor can cue the sound of wind chimes, bamboo, scratches, grasses, and all kinds of otherwise unrecognizable but delightful little noises. There’s magic too. If you’re on any sort of hallucinogenics be careful.

Kudos for In Short
by lgallagher on Sep.10, 2008, under Uncategorized
Some press I recently received from the Blank Paper camp.
“Blank Paper Studio´s last film “IN SHORT” received an international
design award for its packaging. David Benedek´s graphic design was
awarded with the iF Packaging Award 2008. Not as a result of this,
but definitely encouraged, David will not work on a new film next
year but instead on a hi-quality print project. A snowboarding book,
entitled: “Current State: Snowboarding”, due for release in the
Winter 2009 / 2010.”
If you haven’t seen In Short you suck at life. Or at least at being a dedicated follower of snowboard documentation. The film is made up of shorts about a bunch of different types of shredding. From the dry slopes of the UK to the wilds of Alaska, In Short, offers a bunch of evocative little vignettes that stir all those emotions associated with snowboarding. It’s a timeless classic and if you don’t own it, you should.

Hopeless romantics
by lgallagher on Sep.02, 2008, under Uncategorized
Micah Hollinger(left) and Sean Genovese (right) are just a couple of sad clowns looking for love in all the wrong places. Suspicion confirmed: the Ratskeller is no place to search for a soul mate.
There were no takers.
